Favorite Yard Sale Find

I love garage sale-ing. Every weekend La Crosse has all kinds of garage sales going on.
Last year we hit them up a lot because we needed things to fill our house. This year, not so much -- we may have too many things for our little apartment.

One day I stumbled upon this.... for ONE DOLLAR.
The Picture Bible,

I grew up on this book. It's very special to me. Dad used to read it to me before bedtime, and I would spend countless hours just reading it by myself.

My favorite story was the story of Esther.

The best part:

It comes in three sections... which is great because if you have kids, they can share! love it.
I was so happy to find something to special to me and its in great condition too!

Must be the Packer spirit in me?

Lately I've noticed a recurring theme within our kitchen....

It didn't happen entirely on purpose.... (on purpose entirely?)

One thing led to another....
Nom Nom Nom

(You know you're getting old when you are extremely excited
about getting a yellow frying pan for your birthday)

Eventually, everything became green and yellow!

(Just for good measure)

You don't think it has anything to do with this, do ya?

What can I say, I guess I'm easily influenced...

next time you see me, I just might be wearing this:

Velkommen Spring!

no offense winter, i love you... really, i do!

i love your snow.
i love the heated blankets you make me use.
i love the hot chocolate and tea you make me drink.
i love your fun mittens and hats.
i love to watch your sports.
(sidney, ahem)
i love to play your sports
mostly just snowboarding,
skating hurts...
and snowmobiling?
well there's just not quite enough time to get into the benefits and wonderfulness that is snowmobiling. there will never be enough time for that.

however.
there just comes a time.
read Ecclesiastes.
you'll see what i mean.

so please,
don't be offended when i am absolutely thrilled at the sound of birds chirping in the morning.
or that i get to jump into puddles that you leave with my pretty rubber boots.
it's not exactly your fault that I have pasty white skin...
(let's just blame that on Scotland for now)
and flowers.... well, roses aren't exactly my favorite.

but remember, I DO LOVE YOU.

but its just time.
time to say goodbye, for now.

i'll see you again, and welcome you with open arms.
well, i'll try, okay?

but now is the time for
daisies
bunnies
(we have about five of them in our backyard in the spring)
mini-eggs
walks
freshness
lower heating bills
dresses
cute shoes
apple blossoms
well.... i could go on...

dear winter, see you later.

sincerely,
me.

An ode to Peaberry's & Honey BBQ Chicken Pizza

Last year Uriah and I spent a lot of time at an awesome little cafe here in town called Peaberry's.
We were so happy to discover it and ended up going there all the time.
There was a great loft with couches, they provided free internet and their hot drinks were pricey - but delish.

Another thing we loved about it was that it was nice quiet place for Uriah to study while I could just read or use the computer. Also, our house seemed to never warm up during last winter's constant freezing temps, and it was always so warm and toasty. Peaberry's was a wonderful escape to a cozy loft and mellow music.

I could go on and on about how wonderful Peaberry's was... from the service, the local art displays, etc...
However, the thing we both loved and cherished the most was the amazing pizza ever.

honey.barbeque.chicken.amazingness.
wow.
i mean,
this pizza was...
in the words of Ferris Bueller,
"so choice"

Well, last summer, Peaberry's closed.
honestly, it was a very depressing thing to find out.
Our friend Laura was with Riah when he saw the sign on the door on that fateful day and she was afraid he might cry.
To this day it still hurts a little to think about, especially when it was replaced by Quizno's. (Lame, since when does Quizno's need a loft?)

We've figured out the solution to soften the pain of such a devastating loss of our dear and cherished Peaberry's.
And that is, to reincarnate the impeccable being of the Honey BBQ Chicken Pizza.
I just tried it one day and it was a success!
It's so yummy so I thought I'd share it with you!

For the dough you can use whatever recipe you want... I just thought I would throw in a pic of this cute little bundle waiting to rise!
Preheat Oven to 425ish
Again, any Honey BBQ sauce will do... but if you are feeling a little wild, Jack Daniels is excellent.
I always make two mini pizzas instead of one large... to honor the greatness that was Peaberry's.
and the smaller slices are easier to enjoy...
Well... I was rushing, so I didn't take pictures of the entire process,
(I'm sure you don't mind)
so here is what you do:
After putting the base BBQ sauce on,
top with:
small grilled chunks of chicken breast
then with fresh onion
(also yummy but I don't usually include: sliced tomato)
then cover toppings with more BBQ sauce (be generous)
and proceed to load with cheese (again, generously)
Pop those bad boys in the oven for about 15 minutes... or until the cheese melts.

and Voila! Your own personal Honey BBQ chicken pizza!

You NEED to try it...
so let me know what you think!
