New England In The Fall

We have adjusted quite nicely to our new home. I was a little worried that our new area would not have quite as much to offer as La Crosse did.
As busy as fall was, we managed to squeeze in a few activities.

Can you spot Uriah? There is a great hike behind his school (pictured above left hand) called Sleeping Giant State Park. It's not the safest... but that makes it all the more fun right?

These lovely ladies were our Sunday guests. Dinner was followed by a Sunday afternoon stroll on the Quinnipiac River trail. It's safe to say we worked off calories of my not-so-healthy meal :)

I must say that I loved what Autumn had to bring this year. The foliage was breathtaking. We tried out the Farmington Canal railway trail which goes from Cheshire to New Haven. It was a beautiful day and the trail was covered with leaves. Altogether we did 30 miles. It was a great way to take advantage of the beautiful fall weather!

Yes, that is what you think it is on Beth's back!

ahh, the dog days

Uriah and I found ourselves on the Batterton's boat a few times this past summer.
If you know Jim, or Uriah you can just imagine the crazy things that can go on.

Not sure what the term for this new sport is, I am going to go with duo'sans'boarding
The water if great, but my favorite part of boating is getting to see these little cuties (Emily too!)

Our gracious and patient driver!

Of course a photo of the Mable -- everyone's favorite part of the day:

Uriah is always coming up with great ideas...

the big three-oh :)

Way back in August we celebrated with Ramona the long awaited milestone that she had been talking about and looking forward to all summer. The day was full of the five F's: Food, Friends, Food, Family and more importantly Food. Forty was not included in those five F's.

picture this

the path is brightly lit by the almost full moon
the intense heat from the day has transformed into a comfortable warmth complimented by a cool breeze
in the distance you can see lightning illuminating the sky
miles and miles away
it's a mix of feelings on the back of a horse
freedom, excitement and a little bit of fear
but for now,
it's just you and the one you love
riding
surrounded by fireflies
you'll make it back inside just before the water starts dropping
and listen to the crack of thunder
all night long
it's another one of those evenings
that you'll always remember
surrounded by fireflies

listening to... no, dancing to:

THIS is the song I can't stop listening to... doesn't it make you just want to get up and dance everywhere?!?
I couldn't find a version without the bad word in it... sorry.
Also, I want to find a talented writer to make a christian version of this song...

"Good Life".... the christian life is actually the good life... I think it would work well.

enjoy:)

recent happenings...

Life has been busy lately.

The fish tank at night... pretty cool I think.
Dear Lord,
Please give me a child just like this.
Thank you,
Amen.
We discovered this tree in our backyard. I'm not sure what it's called but the berries are yummy.
I am pleased to say I passed my CNA certification exam. Phew. Glad to get it over with and not have to do it again as it was $150 the first time and $70 the second. That could get old really fast.
I was sure I failed it because the last time I took it I forgot one thing and failed it. The lady this time was elderly and I could see what she was writing down and checking off. I saw that I missed three things. However they were not important enough to make me fail.
It was a rough few hours waiting for the results but I am happy about what the results are!

Some very, very cute rolls.
The loveseat camp chair, a thing of beauty!!

Favorite Yard Sale Find

I love garage sale-ing. Every weekend La Crosse has all kinds of garage sales going on.
Last year we hit them up a lot because we needed things to fill our house. This year, not so much -- we may have too many things for our little apartment.

One day I stumbled upon this.... for ONE DOLLAR.
The Picture Bible,

I grew up on this book. It's very special to me. Dad used to read it to me before bedtime, and I would spend countless hours just reading it by myself.

My favorite story was the story of Esther.

The best part:

It comes in three sections... which is great because if you have kids, they can share! love it.
I was so happy to find something to special to me and its in great condition too!

Must be the Packer spirit in me?

Lately I've noticed a recurring theme within our kitchen....

It didn't happen entirely on purpose.... (on purpose entirely?)

One thing led to another....
Nom Nom Nom

(You know you're getting old when you are extremely excited
about getting a yellow frying pan for your birthday)

Eventually, everything became green and yellow!

(Just for good measure)

You don't think it has anything to do with this, do ya?

What can I say, I guess I'm easily influenced...

next time you see me, I just might be wearing this:
