Spring Cupcakes

Today was our monthly dinner at the hall, and I was in the group assigned to bringing deserts.

Well, last night I babysat until 2am.
This would be fine if I did not plan on baking that night or the next morning.
So I woke up at 6 this morning to make these cupcakes and chewy bars (not pictured -- not as pretty). These would be great for a little girls party or something of that sort.
I think they are just so purty. and springy.

Everyone thought they were really cool, but while dinner was being served, only a few were taken.
Uriah came back with one after he ate his dinner.
I found out that he took it because he didn't want me to feel bad that the majority of the cupcakes were still there.
He was trying to sure my early morning hours of hard work weren't put to waste.

He's so cute. What a keeper.

I'm not a big fan of marshmallows, but I just like the way they look.
No worries though, at that point the crowd hadn't quite gotten to desert yet.
They were pretty much taken care of before the end of the evening!

Mt Olympus

We also hit up Mt. Olympus Amusement park. It is a really neat place. I should have taken more pics!

For Leanne.

Best go-cart course ever! The theme of the amusement park is greek mythology. There is a big Trojan horse and the track goes right through it.
I tried to get a pic whilst driving... twas difficult.

Ever wonder what I'd look like Amish?

Found this Gem at an antique shop a few weeks back.
Obviously I had to try it on!

Kayaking on Lake Delton

Last summer, Lake Delton in the Wisconsin Dells flooded and then a levee broke and the whole lake drained. Here is a video:

Well they are filling it back up and it is 75% full. We spent a lovely morning kayaking on the lake for a few hours. We were the only people on the water with the exception of a paddle boat and of course, the Wisconsin Ducks...like ten of them came through.
This is where the Tommy Bartlett Show is! It's a water-skiing, boat-jumping, water/land/sky show. They were obviously a little less busy last summer.

We have found that kayaks are particularly effective for sneaking up on ducks.

Every time I see interesting rock formations, I think of Mark. Not sure why, but hey I'm throwing it up there for ya anyways.

The famed Wisconsin ducks... action shot. Exciting right? Okay, I know, not really.
Awesome way to spend a morning! Come join us!

First camping venture of the season!

Well Spring was here last weekend. Uriah wasn't working and the weather was B-e-a-utiful! So we decided to make use of the tent we bought for $10 bucks last summer at a yard sale.
We also rented a kayak... which was about twice as long as our little car.
So Jay & Phebe kindly lent us their new truck. This was a blast to drive. I LOVE driving trucks!!

We set up camp in the Wisconsin Dells... Waterpark Capital of the World!
(If that doesn't make you want to take your kids and come visit me, I'm not sure what will!)
(Oh -- and my waffle grilled cheese... those are sure to be a big hit)
You may not be able to tell in the pictures, but the campsite ground was all rocks. We only had sleeping backs and I knew that it would be painful and horribly, horribly, horrible to sleep on the ground. So I took a drive into town to get some sort of padding so we would enjoy our sleep in our new tent and our brand-spanking-new sleeping bags.
Well I have only been to the Dells twice... and so it took me quite a bit longer to figure out a quick route to Wal Mart and back... in fact I was gone an hour. Uriah stayed behind to make dinner, and I figured I would be half hour at the most. I came back and it was dark, he had steaks & chicken wings all fried up for me when I got back.
He got a little bored so he took a picture of our dinner.
That's my kind of roughing it!

I knew when I was in Wal Mart that it was taking longer than usual... so I indulged in some S'more materials. Uriah loves em! I like the chocolate and marshmallow part... but the graham crackers really seem to throw off the whole experience for me.My theory is that it's because Graham Crackers were what I had to eat for a recess snack in elementry school. While everyone else was eating fruit roll ups, I had graham crackers. Of course at the time this was atrocious but now I realize what a wonderful mother I had, making me eat healthy stuff!Good morning sunshine!
At WalMart I purchased one of those foam things that you put on top of your mattress for our camping trip. I figured that we can use it at home, and take it along when we are tenting too.
Sort of a double whammy kinda thing!
It was very comfortable. In fact the night would have been perfect except for a little mishap on my part. We bought two sleeping bags and I figured we could just zip them into one. Well the zippers had little caps on them so I thought it couldnt be done. We slept in a very drafty bed with one sleeping bag on the bottom and one over us. It was very cold and very uncomfortable.
In the morning, I discovered that in fact you could zip them together. So we zipped them up into one sleeping back and made up for lost sleep by sleeping in until 9! (we woke up at 6)
Our cute little campsite.

Welcome to the United States of America

Finally.

Instead of "we are processing your case" or "you are missing a very important document" or "this is what you need to do now", it said "Welcome to the United States of America".

Imagine that.

Then it goes on to say "It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to permanent resident status in the United States."

Ahh. Relief!

For the past 7 months I have felt almost unwelcome in this country. Everything was a hassle. If I left, I couldn't come back. I was not able to work. I could not have a bank account. Getting my Driver's license was a two hour ordeal and it kind of made me feel guilty and as if I wasn't supposed to be here.

Well not anymore! I have my green card and I am pretty much just the same as everyone else! I can't vote, but hey I'm too indecisive anyways.

This whole process has been incredibly frustrating. I am so glad it's over and now I'm job hunting.

My only dilemma now is that I can't decide if I should go for more responsible jobs, or just regular employee jobs. I want to go to school in the fall or take courses throughout the summer. I'm not quite sure what I want to do with my life anymore though. Art school is sounding very inviting right now
If you could pray for me in trying to make these decisions , I would love that.

Missing you all so much!

A day at the farm

Today marks the beginning of Uriah's spring break.
The last week has been extremely busy for him with tests before his week off.
So last night I picked him up after his evening shift and we came down for a little visit with the in-laws (and the hot tub)

Here is Uriah helping his dad with the feed grinder:

This machine grinds the corn and mixes it up with the feed that Uriah is putting in.

Et Voila!
There's some food to fatten up those cows!

Well Spring around here means calves, and there are lots of em!

These guys were pretty curious. The Ma cow behind them was mooing at them to run far far away...

Isn't he cute?

Whatchu lookin' at?

Girl, you huge.

Our Wedding Album!!!

Finally -- It's here :)

So happy!

That there is my favorite page.
I love the picture of my dress with the bus in the background.
Who would'a thunk that an old rusty bus would be a key element in some fancy shmancy wedding pics?

I just love this pic of me and Ma.
I don't remember who said something funny but Mr. Photographer sure caught the moment!

Isn't he cute showing Ky our album?
She was pointing to people saying their names.
She's so precious.
I don't know if you can tell, but she has a black eye.
Poor little thing. It sure looks pitiful but kinda makes me chuckle everytime I see her.

Weekend at Sarah's

This little guy was going to a new home a few hours away, so we had the pleasure of driving him to his new owner! He was not used to his indoor surroundings, and climbed on top of this shoe rack and didn't move until we had to leave.

Uriah & the puppy stretching their legs.

Here are Sarah & Jake at Sarah's broomball tournament. She was on the only all-girls team called the Mighty Sweepers!

This guy had an interesting get-up!

Sarah in action! Note her shoes : Sneakers with wool socks over them!

I just love fluffy flakes & a sunny day.

I took this one home!
